Alive From New York

What an audacious day for faith, protectors of the unborn, for believers of all stripes right in our beloved Times Square.
In spite of no support from the owners of the giant jumbotrons above the plaza the Focus on The Family sponsored event was able to broadcast a live third trimester ultrasound of a baby in the womb to make the point for all the world to see that life is present inside a woman's body.
Thousands gathered on a beautiful sunny day to listen to songs of praise, speeches and raise their voices in defense of the unborn.
The Pro-choice delegation was present and at one point marched around the perimeter and they even had a band to mark time for their call "pro-life is a lie, women will die" over and over. Thankfully the NYPD moved the mindless brigade across the avenue where the were merely a nuisance with no impact. They were drowned out by the grace of God and the powerful speakers of the Alive From New York stage.
Their could not have been a more clear comparison. One one side of Broadway were thousands of people who came together to celebrate life in all its forms and on the other side those too ignorant or blind to see that they were living a culture of death lifestyle. It was sad to look upon those opposing giving life to unborn babies. I found myself wanting to confront them and praying for their change of heart at the same time.
The highlight, of course, was the screening in real time an ultrasound scan of a third trimester baby. Powerful, affirming, impactful and so much more as the technicians voice narrated the procedure on the big screen. The crowd was silent as they watched and listened and then erupted in wild cheers when it was over. In a complete surprise the women having the ultrasound came out on the stage and it was none other than the star of the movie "Unplanned", Ashley Bratcher. She explained that in taking on the role of Abbey Johnson she made an amazing discovery. Her mother tearfully related that she had had an abortion at the age of eighteen and was contemplating a second procedure but chose to keep the baby and that was Ashley. God grace works in wondrous and sometimes very mysterious ways.
More than once was it heard that today could be the start that would change it all. Proving the babies in the womb are alive, complete and thriving humans waiting to be born and not merely some clump of cells placed a large dose reality in front of the false claims. It challenges the culture of death to confront the fallacy of their convictions and recognize themselves as what they are -misguided purveyors of death.
Many prayers came from the speakers and many were heard in the depths of the crowd, but all were the same in a certain way. They all called on God in praise and supplication that this day would make a difference in the fight for the unborn.
